What's the difference between BHP, HP and PS? - Mike's Mechanics
- @DRIVETRIBE I know video is couple years old but fantastic info👏. I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 & agree Kilowatts is the most accurate form of measurement in Cars(especially when modifying). The only downfall that most the world seems to have with this system is that the dyno numbers show up significantly less on paper eg 450kw= 600HP. Most ppl, wether consciously or subconsciously prefer the higher number thinking it equates to more power-yet it’s exactly the same. A great example is “what’s heavier- 1kg of feathers 🪶 or 1kg of bricks 🧱 = Most ppl answer bricks sadly 🤣
- Ill never use kW
A tu może zerkałeś
panele słoneczne Wadowice - może i więcej, ale czy ok?
- What about DIN / SAE standards? Are the the same thing as HP/PS?
- Yep, we should all use kW. Yay for Tesla that uses a metric system, even though the cars are manufactured in Fremont, CA.
- I’m from Australia but I still tell people the horse power because it’s a bigger number :)
- Before The 1973 Oil Crisis PS and HP are Different until that Happen and BHP introduced back then and since the 70s PS and HP figures are really the same.
- I still dont understand what bhp is....
- aircooled Harley Davidson has left the chat
- I didn't know Pedro Pascal had a yt channel
- Brake hp is also commonly used in USA. The two are usually used together.
- With the Kilowatt being name after James Watt. The first guy in your video.
- Never heard brake horse power before watching a British video, unrelated though. BTW, it’s Pferdestärke in German.
- In italy we call it CV too, As "cavalli vapore". It still means "steam horses", which is indicative of the marketing done with the steam engine. "This engine has the power of 100 horses... 100 steam horses!" Lol
- 1KW = 1.341hp
- So how do you convert horsepower or brake horse power into kw? Otherwise we don’t have a clue of how much power it is. Suppose I can google it just that you never mentioned it.
- BHP is wrong, you are confusing norms (DIN and ASA.) Use PS, HP, or CV, but never BHP because it is NOT a unit, it is only an acronym.
- I'm french, from France. Never used CV but simply "chevaux", just like HP
- My car has 6 cheetah power. The cheetah power defined as the average power required to accelerate a mass of 140 pounds to 60 mph in 3 seconds or 10.21 horsepower.
- KW is the true measurement. no horses, no camels, just science.
- BOW BEFORE US YOU HORSEPOWER PEASENTS. WE KILOWATTIANS ARE THE MASTERACE
